Half Day Trip in Penang


How we go?

We drive the car went to heritage area and their have car park lot, but need put car park coupon.
If no have coupon, can buy at 7-11 shop or the shop that have sell car park coupon.



9.30 am - Ah Lai Kopitiam


For our breakfast, we choose "Ah Lai Kopitiam - Under The Big Tree".
In Penang, there are some locals' favorites which are still standing strong after many years of operations. 
One of the locals' favorite place for brunch is "Ah Lai Cafe - Under The Big Tree". This kopitiam is simple and no-frills cafe is operating under a huge tree and can enjoy with a coffee.


We have ordered Half Boiled Egg on Buttered Toast (RM 3.60), Instant Noodles (RM 5.00) and and their signature drink which is Coffee Special (RM2.40). 


Overall the taste was good, but i mostly liked to drink their Coffee Special. 
I'm a coffee lover, I liked the taste of coffee and it was suitable for the person who need a coffee in the morning. 

10.30 am - Armenian Street


Armenian Street is the one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and one of the places that tourists must visit.
This street is surrounded by Chinese Temples, Clan House, Mosques, street art, full of charming shop houses, artists galleries and cafes. 


Choo Chay Keong Temple of Yap Kongsi

Yap is a Chinese clan name or surname. The forefather of Yap families in Penang mostly originated from Fujian Province of Southern China.
The location of Yap Kongsi is at the junction of Cannon Street and Armenian Street. It is easily recognized by an extensive ornament of dragons and pearls on its green roof.




Hock Teik Cheng Sin Temple

Hock Teik Cheng Sin Temple, as known as Poh Hock Seah,  was built by Chinese immigrants almost 165 years ago. 
Dedicated to Tua Pek Kong (God of Prosperity and Morality), the temple was symbolic of the values of the community and rituals conducted were very similar to what was practiced in the Fujian Province where most of them originated from.



The location is a few meters away crossing over Cannon Street, there is a small gateway leading to the Hock Teik Cheng Sin Temple.













Armenian Street





 "Kids on Bicycle"

"Kids on Bicycle" painting in Amernian Street and it is a great example of one of the many Penang Street painting located all around the old part of George Town.
This mural painted by London trained artist Ernest Zacharevic.

 "Three Cultural Girls"

In Malaysia , we have three major races which are Malays, Chinese and Indian. This mural was represented three different girls in traditional costumes, showcasing the unique composition of Malaysia's culture.


 When we walk around the heritage site and we want to rest awhile, we found a long chair to sit.

11.30 am - Chew Jetty and Tan Jetty


Chew Jetty



Chew Jetty is the biggest of clan jetty and tourist hotspot in George Town.
The walkway and houses were still remain in timber, we slowly walked and looked around the Chew Jetty 


We walked until the last part of Chew Jetty, we took a beautiful scenery picture with seaside and the sky. Also one of the memory part for us.




Tan Jetty

 Tan Jetty is one of the six clan jetties in George Town. 
It is also the third clan jetty form the north, located between Chew Jetty and Lee Jetty.
The walkway and houses also still remain in timber. 



Tan Jetty also the one of tourist hotspot and nice view.
 It is a good aesthetic and suitable for #ootd.


12.40 pm - Awesome Canteen at Sekeping Victoria




Awesome Canteen at Sekeping Victoria is a rustic-forestry retreat and the rustic interior design. 
There is suitable for the people who can relax and enjoy their minds amidst trees in this artsy space and they can meet with their friends and family.
Tourists can have a night stay at the rooms.
The location of Sekeping Victoria is at Victoria Street.




There also one of the place that teenagers like to take #ootd picture with aesthetic moment.

2.30 pm - E&O Hotel


E&O Hotel is a historical hotel, there have old and new building which are Heritage Wing and Victoria Annexe.





Heritage Wing's walkway




Heritage Wing is a old wing and was built in 1885, it is Moorish the backdrop for khaki-clad doormen and pith-helmeted bellhops to welcome the guests.



Victoria Annexe's Lobby

Victoria Annexe is a new wing and it is a modern-classic design.
Most of photographer will went there took photo shooting for wedding photo, view and more. 
Teenagers also like to take #ootd picture and share to social media.
